Article: This Way Up 2021 announced for 1-2 December at Watershed, Bristol

This Way Up is the annual conference for people working in UK film exhibition; a space to gather, connect, learn and be inspired.

Delivered by BFI FAN, This Way Up brings the sector together to share new ideas, celebrate our work, and collectively imagine the future of cinema-going for audiences across the UK.

BFI FAN are excited to announce the dates and venue for this year’s This Way Up conference, which will take place in-person at Watershed, Bristol with additional online elements, with virtual sessions and networking opportunities.

Mark your calendars – more information and tickets to be announced soon! Meanwhile, we want FAN members to get involved with this year’s event – see below for two ways you can be part of the conference.

Cinema Stories

We’re looking for six venues to create short films to showcase their venue. After the success of last year’s Cinema Stories, we’re offering a £250 budget to help you create a video (up to 3 minutes in length) with creative flair.

We’d love to hear from venues across the UK – tell us why your venue is special!

These short films were a hit at last year’s conference – if you’re interested in making one for your venue, get in touch below.

Show & Share

Have you been part of an inspiring project or programme this year that you’d like to share?
Do you have an idea or innovation that could make a change in the exhibition sector, or burning question or provocation to put to your industry colleagues?
We’re looking for proposals for a 10-minute in person presentation or a 5-minute video presentation, which will be screened online and at the conference.
