Article: This Way Up 2022: Open Call for Cinema Stories

Share your cinema’s story at This Way Up!

Are you beloved by audiences? Is your building a local treasure? What makes your cinema special? If you have a story to tell, consider taking part in Cinema Stories at This Way Up, 2022.

Four BFI FAN member venues will be selected to share their Cinema Story with the UK cinema community.

This Way Up will provide each participant with £250 towards the production of a 3-minute video about their venue. These videos will be which will be shared with This Way Up audiences in person and online.

Please note that submissions are open to BFI FAN Hub members only. Please do not begin to make a video until a member of the This Way Up team has been in touch to let you know if you have been selected, and provide technical specifications.

This Way Up is the UK’s only independent cinema conference, coming to Dundee, 30 Nov-1 Dec 2022. Still need to book? You can buy in-person and online passes here.

Regional Hubs may be able to offer members’ bursaries and support for freelancers to attend.

About This Way Up

This Way Up is the UK’s only independent film exhibition conference and offers a unique space where industry questions can be addressed and answers sought. The event is produced by Film Hub Scotland and Film Hub North, with support from Film Hub Midlands, as part of the BFI Film Audience Network (BFI FAN) which is supported by National Lottery funding. BFI FAN was established in 2012 to build wider and more diverse UK cinema audiences for British and international film.

Registration is open to anyone in the UK film exhibition sector.
